Romanian gastronomy in Barcelona since 2012

Restaurant Transilvania opened in March 2012 in central Barcelona, because Catalonia's Romanian community needed a place to eat the food of home without having to explain it.

We are part of Grupo Mercatrom “de la Om la Om”, a pioneering project built on human warmth that first brought Romanian products to Catalonia in 2005. Over the years, our aim of making every guest feel at home has earned us the Special Award «Noi susținem Excelența!» two years running, in recognition of our track record, professionalism and commitment to the Romanian community in Spain.

The menu is signed by executive chef Marian Popovici, named Chef of the Year 2017 in Romania for his outstanding results in international culinary competitions, including the Grand Trophy of the 2017 Genghis Khan Cup, as well as numerous gold and silver medals.

We combine traditional Romanian cooking with international dishes, so the guest looking for sarmale and the guest looking for a mixed grill can share the same table. And we work with top-quality produce from both Romania and Catalonia.
